Floor removal
Linoleum, vinyl and LVP removal
The floor material comes up quickly. The glue below it is the true work, and it is the step that makes the dust.
Sheet vinyl and linoleum
Old sheet material usually tears. The paper backing stays on the slab. The crew must grind off this backing before you install a new floor. We do both steps as one job.
LVP and LVT
A plank floor that is not glued lifts quickly and cleanly. A glue-down plank floor does not. It leaves a full layer of adhesive on the slab. Tell us which type you have when you call. The type changes the price.
A caution about old floors
Some sheet floors from before 1985 contain asbestos in the backing or in the glue. If your floor is this old, get a test before any person disturbs it. Asbestos removal needs a special license. We do not do this work, but we will give you the name of a company that does.
Questions and answers
-
Do you remove the glue below vinyl flooring?
- Yes. We grind off the glue as part of the job. A new floor does not bond to old glue.
-
What if my old floor contains asbestos?
- If the floor is from before 1985, get a test first. Asbestos removal needs a special license and we do not do it. We tell you this instead of a guess.
